Forming a Generation of Tolerant Leaders: The Role of Schools in Instilling the Value of Tolerance in Elementary School Students

Character education should be implemented from the age of 6-12 years, as this stage is crucial for moral growth and development. However, elementary schools often emphasize knowledge mastery, neglecting character and morality. This study explores the role of SDN Kedungringin I in instilling tolerance in students, focusing on teachers' efforts and students' perceptions. Structured interviews reveal strategies for creating an inclusive environment and the importance of respecting differences. Challenges include lack of parental support for religious diversity. The study recommends closer school-parent collaboration and continuous evaluation of tolerance programs.
