Abstract

This research investigated how the type of blood collection tube affects test results for calcium and sodium. They used three types of tubes: red cap (serum), green cap (heparin plasma), and purple cap (EDTA plasma). The study involved 27 samples from 9 students and was conducted in a hospital lab in April-May 2024. Statistical analysis showed that the tube type impacted calcium and sodium levels (p<0.05) but not chloride levels.
