Technological Development and Language Politeness Practice in Elementary School
Perkembangan Teknologi dan Praktik Kesantunan Berbahasa di Sekolah Dasar

The article aims to discuss language politeness practice in elementary schools and its relationship to technological developments such as social media and digital platforms. Research uses a qualitative method with the type of research using the study of phenomenology. This research aims to answer the problem of technological development and the practice of language politeness in elementary schools, both in the teacher's speech with students and in the speech between students based on Leech's theory (1993) of language politeness. The results of this study show that students sometimes use a trending language on social media whose adoption can be a pattern of obedience and violation of the Leech (1983) principle of linguistic discouragement that includes tact maxim, generosity maxim,approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim.
