Abstract

Friction stir welding (FSW) is a non-fusion welding technique that is effectively used to join metals, especially in underwater applications. This research aims to investigate the influence of process parameters on the quality of Underwater Friction Stir Welding (UWFSW) connections in AA6005-T6 series aluminum, with a focus on penetration and porosity studies. Joint testing is carried out using microstructure tests and porosity tests. The method used is the UWFSW experimental method for studying joint penetration and porosity. The results of this research based on the Penetrant Test showed an indication of porosity with a length of 6 mm and a width of 4 mm, and the results of the penetration test using a micro structure showed a penetration gap distance of 0.614 mm.
