Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the effectiveness of the International Student Mobility program from the perspective of University Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo’s students who studied Arabic at University Sultan Zainal Abidin Malaysia. The method used in this research was the phenomenological qualitative method. Data sources for this research were obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation. To ensure the accuracy and validity, triangulation was also performed. The results indicate that students participating in this program gained valuable experiences while also facing various challenges. They were provided with advanced learning facilities, comfortable dormitories, abundant Arabic language resources, and opportunities to build international friendships. However, behind all of these, students also experienced several culture shocks such as the language of instruction, the difficulty level of learning, high levels of discipline, different dress standards, etc. Nevertheless, students perceived these challenges as opportunities for academic and personal growth. The program was evaluated as effective and beneficial.
