IoT-based Early Warning System for Current Limiting Disturbance in Distribution Transformers

This research paper addresses the issue of interference experienced by electrical distribution transformers, which can lead to a decrease in their lifespan and negatively impact both consumers and electricity providers. The objective of this study is to develop an early warning system utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) technology to monitor current and voltage values in distribution transformers. The research follows a research and development methodology, encompassing observations, literature reviews, device and system design, and testing. The findings reveal that the PZEM-004T sensor readings display a 9.97% error for current and a 0.28% error for voltage compared to a standard multimeter. A 20x4 I2C LCD serves as a direct display for users. Furthermore, notifications are sent to PLN officers' smartphones via the Blynk application when the voltage falls below 180V, providing real-time current and voltage values for convenient monitoring of distribution transformers.
