The Influence of the Number of Cooling Holes, Heating Temperature and Mold Diameter Width on Scratch Defects in Aluminum Molds

Abstract

Aluminum and metal are materials that are commonly used in the molding industry and also in car spare parts manufacturing because of their dense and hard material properties. Products made from aluminum often have problems in the production process which can cause greater fatalities such as air being trapped in the aluminum mold, the mold having an abnormal thickness, and also non-predictive scratches on the mold. Therefore, research is needed on the analysis technique of using a good mold so as not to cause mold failure. The results of this research showed that scratches on the mold first appeared at 10 cooling holes and the temperature was 670oC and could be handled by changing and adjusting the temperature components, width of the diameter of the mold meeting, and  also the number of holes and resulted in the scratch disappearing at a temperature of 700oC...
