Abstract

Mascot is a visual element in the form of a character that can represent the identity of a product, agency or organization. Mascots are also used as advertising and promotional media to make them more easily accepted by public. In the end, mascots become a means of uniquely communicating the character or personality of a company. The Communication Science Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo is part of a university that uses mascots as its promotional media. This mascot design is a two-dimensional character shaped and characterized by a combination of a human and a butterfly. The mascot, named "Si Kombi" is made with the dominant colors blue, green, red and yellow which is matching with the characteristic color of the Communication Science Study Program. By having a mascot for a brand, it will be easier to build an identity and create public attention for the brand.
