Abstract

The incidence of caesarean delivery has increased globally. Postoperative pain causes disruption of the mother’s activities to care for her baby. Some methods to reduce pain are acupressure and lavender aromatherapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of acupressure and lavender aromatherapy on reducing postoperative pain of sectio caesarea. This study used a quasi-experimental design with two-group pretest and posttest, samples were taken by consecutive sampling with a total of 46 respondents divided into two groups. Data were collected using NRS questionnaires to assess pain scales before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test, the result was p-value of 0.000 showing a significant difference in pain reduction in both groups. Based on the average value of pain reduction, acupressure is more effective in reducing postoperative pain compared to lavender aromatherapy, acupressure can be applied in postoperative pain management.
