Relationship between Peer Social Support and Learning Motivation among 8th Grade Students at Muhammadiyah 2 Taman Junior High School in the Academic Year 2022

Learning motivation is a condition that drives individuals to engage in learning activities and achieve learning goals. Without motivation, learning activities may not occur. This study aims to explore the relationship between peer social support and learning motivation among students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Taman. It employs a quantitative correlational approach with a population of 177 of 8 grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Taman. The sample size matches the population. The study utilizes a saturated sampling technique. Data collection involves using scales of social support and learning motivation adapted from previous research. Spearman’s Rho correlation technique assisted by JASP 0.14.1.0 for Windows was used for analysis. The correlation analysis reveals a significant relationship between peer social support and learning motivation among students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Taman (rho=0.385, p value<0.001). This finding indicates that higher levels of peer support correspond to increased learning motivation among students.
