Android File Security Application with AES Encryption and Fingerprint Authentication

Abstract

In the current digital era, safeguarding data is crucial due to the prevalence of data breaches, costing an average of $3.86 million in 2018. Cryptography, specifically encryption, plays a vital role in ensuring data confidentiality and integrity. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is the global standard for transforming data into a secure format. However, AES security relies on the strength of the key, leading to potential risks. This research addresses these concerns by combining AES-128 encryption with fingerprint-based authentication, enhancing security access. Fingerprint biometric verification adds a user-friendly layer of security. The application was tested using Automated Testing, demonstrating successful development of an application capable of encrypting data with AES and integrating it with BiometricPrompt. The result is an improved level of data security in the digital era.
