Scientific literacy is very important because scientific literacy can answer all the challenges that occur in life. Students have difficulty with scientific literacy because learning is boring. Therefore it is necessary to make efforts to make learning more meaningful. This study aims to determine whether or not there is an effect of learning based on Socio Scientific Issues (SSI) on the scientific literacy abilities of elementary school students. This research was conducted at UPT SD Negeri 342 Gresik. The research method used is one group-pretest posttest design. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with a sample of 14 students. Data analysis used the paired sample t test and n-gain. The research results show that there are differences before and after implementing SSI learning with the n-gain test in the effective category. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that SSI learning can improve students' scientific literacy skills.
