Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of reading character education in class IV SDN Sumberejo 1 and describe the obstacles encountered in implementing reading character education in class 4 SDN Sumberejo 1. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive research. The research subjects were school principals, grade IV homeroom teachers, and grade IV students. By using data collection techniques, observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate to create students who like to read in ways that are carried out such as the habit of reading for 15 minutes before studying, schedule visits to the library every week, create an environment that is rich in reading texts, reward students' positive behavior, update library book collections, and holding reading activities aloud, reading silently, and reading together. There are also literacy strategies in learning, such as reading, asking questions, summarizing, moving forward to read, and answering practice questions.

There are also literacy strategies in learning, such as reading, asking questions, summarizing, moving forward to read, and answering practice questions. so that the implementation of the literacy movement program is adjusted to the stages in the guidebook that has been made, namely there are 3 stages including the habituation stage, the development stage and the learning stage.
