Student Attitudes towards STEM: Relationship with Cognitive Learning Outcomes in Science Learning

This study aims to describe students' attitudes towards STEM, cognitive learning outcomes, and the relationship between the two variables. This study uses a quantitative approach Pre-Experimental and research design One-Group Pretest Posttest. A sample of 55 students from a population of 192 students. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire to measure students' attitudes towards STEM, as well multiple choice tests to assess students' cognitive learning outcomes. Analysis using n-gain and person product moment correlation. The results showed that STEM able to improve students' attitudes toward STEM and cognitive learning outcomes in science learning. The pre-test and post-test average scores show that attitudes towards STEM are most dominant in the technology, while cognitive learning outcomes, the highest increasing score is in indicator explaining the basic principles of biotechnology. This approach also proves a significant relationship between students' attitudes toward STEM and cognitive learning outcomes with an R value of 0.514.
