The existence of alumni has an important role for educational institutions. One measure of the quality of a tertiary institution is the quality of its alumni. Because of the importance of the role of alumni, it would be nice for a tertiary institution to have facilities to connect alumni with their alma mater, both with fellow alumni, lecturers, and with the students of the college concerned. Since its establishment until now the Surabaya Shipping Polytechnic has produced thousands of alumni who are spread both domestically and abroad. However, the alumni information has not been recorded properly, because almost all of the data is still stored in paper form, so much data is lost. And only some of the data has been inputted into the Microsoft Excel program. So it will take a long time in the data search process and administrative services.
