This research was conducted to find out the type of code switching based on Poplack's theory and the function of code switching based on the theory of Mattsson and Barenhult. This research was conducted on the process of learning English in seventh grade at MTs Bilingual Muslimat NU Sidoarjo. The purpose of this research is to analyse the type of code switching produced by the seventh grade English teacher and to find out the function of the code switching produced by the teacher during class learning. This research uses a qualitative method using case studies. The results of this study found that teacher produces three types of code switching, namely, 1) Tag switching, 2) Intra-sentential switching, and 3) Inter-sentential switching. While the code-switching function produced by the teacher in this study there are three, namely, 1) Topic switch, 2) Affective function, and 3) Repetitive function..
