Abstract

Type II Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is an endocrine system disorder influenced by genetic factors and lifestyle. The TCF7L2 gene is a strong locus of basic transcription factors that form the Wnt signaling pathway, consisting of a complex network of proteins with mutations in rs7903146 that are closely related to T2DM by disrupting insulin secretion. This study aims to identify TCF7L2 gene mutations in the T2DM population in the Sidoarjo Region. There were 7 samples used in this study with DNA isolation, PCR, and sequencing methods. The samples were amplified to target the TCF7L2 gene along a 318bp stretch. The results of this study did not find the C to T transition mutation at rs7903146.
