Abstract

Welding GTAW  has many advantages, including clean welding results. The use of ss304l material cannot be separated from the joining and welding processes. The purpose of this study is to find out how the results of using two different procedures to minimize weld surface defects at the 1F-4F welding position on ss304l material using the GTAW welding method. At welding positions 3F and 4F the experimental results using procedure A were able to increase the results of the weld bead which was more even and without surface defects than the results using procedure B which produced less flat weld beads and a few surface defects. Best welding results in this experiment were at positions 1F and 2F with the use of procedure A, this happened because the welding positions 1F and 2F were classified as common welding positions and were easy to do because the torch position was still underhand.
