SS 400 metal welding using SMAW welding was carried out with a variation of the welding electric current, namely 70 A, 100 A, and 130 A, and using an E6013 electrode with a diameter of 3.2 mm. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in welding electric current on the resulting welding defects using a liquid penetrant test. With a seam angle of 600, for the best results, use a current of 100 A.If you use a low current strength, there will be many defects, as evidenced by the many holes and red spots on the welding results, and if you use a high current strength, the result of welding is that there are red spots..
