Abstract

This study analyzed the cognitive development of early childhood children through the singing method in Group B of Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten 03 Ujungpangkah, Gresik. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected from 16 children aged 5–6 years through classroom observation, interviews with the principal and teacher, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, with credibility ensured through source and technique triangulation. Findings showed that the singing method positively supported children's cognitive development, improving their ability to remember learning materials, recognize numbers, letters, colors, shapes, and body parts, and relate song lyrics to learned concepts. Singing activities also enhanced concentration, participation, communication confidence, and enthusiasm during learning. This effectiveness was supported by teachers' creativity in combining songs with movement, educational games, visual media, and continuous motivation. The singing method is thus an effective and enjoyable strategy for stimulating cognitive development in early childhood education.
