Abstract

Environmental education for children requires interactive learning media that combine educational objectives with digital experiences. This study aims to design and develop a mobile-based 3D action-adventure game titled Pelestarian Alam Indonesia as an educational medium for children aged 8–12 years. The game was developed using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC), consisting of concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. Unity 3D and C# were used to implement three educational missions: waste collection, wildlife rescue, and reforestation. The prototype includes a start menu, level selection, 3D environments, virtual joystick controls, mission interaction buttons, reward mechanisms, and Finite State Machine (FSM) logic for gameplay management. Black-box testing was conducted to verify loading, navigation, interactions, mission completion, and game-over conditions. The results indicate that the prototype functions properly and has potential as an environmental education tool, although usability and learning-effectiveness evaluations with target users are still required.
