The Effect of the Make a Match Method on Fourth-Grade Elementary School Student’s Reading Comprehension Skills

This study aims to investigate the impact of the Make a Match cooperative learning method, based on Tarigan's reading theory, on the reading comprehension skills of Year 4 students at SD Krembung 1. The study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving all students in Year 4 as a full sample. A multiple-choice test that has been validated and found to be reliable was used to measure the reading comprehension indicators based on Tarigan's theory. The results of the study showed that the pretest score of 55.70 increased to 85.50 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that the Make a Match method based on Tarigan's theory was effective in significantly improving the reading comprehension skills of primary school students.
