Teacher's Strategy Using Mind Mapping Model to Overcome Writing Difficulties in Second Grade Elementary School Students

This study aims to describe teachers’ strategies in using the Mind Mapping model to overcome writing difficulties among second-grade elementary school students. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach conducted at Waung Public Elementary School, Krembung Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency, involving one teacher and six students as research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation techniques to ensure validity. The findings revealed that students initially experienced difficulties in starting writing activities, developing ideas, and constructing coherent sentences. After the implementation of the Mind Mapping model, students showed improvement in organizing ideas, composing more structured sentences, and increasing confidence in writing. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Mind Mapping model effectively helps students organize ideas before writing and supports the improvement of their writing skills.
