The raffia production line at UD Lancar Jaya experienced an imbalanced workload, resulting in high idle time and low line efficiency. The total process time was recorded at 53 minutes, with the longest work element being 12 minutes, while the initial condition consisted of 11 work stations with an efficiency of only 16.06%. This study aimed to balance the production line and determine the optimal work station configuration using the Ranked Positional Weight (RPW) method. This method ranks work elements based on position weight to optimize workload distribution between stations. The results showed that the optimal number of work stations could be reduced to 2, with an increase in line efficiency to 88.33% and a decrease in balance delay to 11.67%. In addition, the smoothness index value of 5.39 indicated a more even workload distribution compared to the initial condition.
