Abstract

Bullying remains a serious problem in junior high schools and may negatively affect students’ psychological well-being and social development. One preventive approach that can be implemented is psychoeducation focusing on emotional management and the development of positive social behavior. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the psychoeducational program “Stay Cool, Don’t Be Cruel: Upgrade Yourself, Not Put Down Your Friends!” in reducing bullying behavior among students at Muhammadiyah 5 Junior High School, Tulangan. This study employed a quantitative experimental approach using a one-group pre-test–post-test design. The participants consisted of 30 eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a bullying scale measured using a 4-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results revealed a significant decrease in bullying behavior after the psychoeducational intervention (Z = -4.789, p = 0.000; p < 0.05)
