Abstract

This study aims to map the intellectual structure and research trends of critical thinking in Islamic education using a bibliometric approach. Data from Scopus-indexed publications were analyzed with Biblioshiny, employing co-occurrence networks, thematic mapping, trend topics, and country collaboration analysis. The results indicate a significant increase in publications, reflecting growing academic interest in integrating critical thinking into Islamic education. However, Islamic education remains the dominant central theme, while critical thinking is positioned peripherally, indicating limited theoretical integration. Thematic analysis reveals that the intersection of critical thinking, pedagogy, and Islamic education is emerging as a potential motor theme, although the field remains conceptually fragmented. In addition, international collaboration is relatively limited and geographically concentrated. This study contributes by identifying structural gaps and highlighting the need for integrative theoretical frameworks and empirical research to strengthen the role of critical thinking in Islamic education.
