Psychoeducation on Emotional Management for Junior High School Students to Reduce Conflict Between Peers at Islamic Junior High Schools in Sidoarjo

This research was aimed to determine the emotional regulation skill and peer conflict among students of Islamic Junior High School Sidoarjo after given emotional management psychoeducation. This study used quantitative research method with pre-experimental design employing one-group pretest–posttest design. The study involved 128 seventh-grade students who were chosen by employing saturated sampling. Using a pretest and posttest for the psychoeducational program, data included responses to a questionnaire on emotional management knowledge and peer conflict. Analysis of the data was performed by the Paired Samples Test. The findings showed that there was a statistically significant increase in the mean scores of the students after intervention with the p value less than 0.05. The results of this study show that emotional management psychoeducation can improve students’ emotional regulation (i.e., decrease in reactive behaviours) and (face-to-face and social media) peer conflicts.
