Abstract

This study was motivated by the low levels of social learning outcomes among elementary school students in social studies, characterized by a lack of cooperation, empathy, and acceptance of diversity—a condition resulting from conventional, teacher-centered instruction that limits student engagement. This study aims to examine the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model on students’ social learning outcomes using a one-group pretest-posttest quantitative design. This study was conducted at SDN Sawocangkring during the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, involving 19 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through 15 multiple-choice questions with validated reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha 0.902) and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results showed that the posttest scores were significantly higher than the pretest scores, with Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) < 0.001, confirming that the TPS model has a significant positive effect on improving students’ social learning outcomes in social studies.
