Optimizing Raw Material Inventory Control in the Animal Feed Industry

The problem of corn raw material overstock in the animal feed industry has led to increased inventory costs and reduced operational efficiency. This study aims to optimize inventory control in order to minimize excess inventory costs using the Markov Chain method with a complete enumeration approach. The data used in this research consist of historical corn demand from October 2023 to September 2025. The research stages include state determination, construction of the transition probability matrix, formulation of stationary policies, and calculation of long-term expected costs. The results indicate that the optimal policy is stationary policy s = 49 with a minimum expected excess cost of Rp 82,030,000 per period. The implementation of this policy significantly reduces overstock costs compared to the previous policy, demonstrating that the Markov Chain method is effective for inventory control under fluctuating demand conditions.
