Twenty-first century education requires the application of learning models that can develop critical thinking and reading comprehension skills. However, the reading skills of students in Indonesia are still relatively low, as reflected in the results of PISA and PIRLS. This study aims to determine the effect of the Reading Guide model on the reading comprehension skills . This study used a pre-experimental method with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design and involved 22 fifth-grade students at SDN Gedangan . Data were collected through written tests before and after the learning treatment. The results showed an increase in posttest scores, indicating that the application of the Reading Guide model was effective in improving reading comprehension skills. This model helped students focus better, understand important concepts. This study contributes to the development literacy-based learning strategies and emphasizes the importance of using a systematic reading model to improve the learning outcomes of elementary school students.
