Abstract

Cattle diseases are difficult to diagnose by farmers due to limited knowledge and lack of access to veterinary professionals, which can lead to inappropriate treatment and decreased productivity. This study develops a web-based expert system for diagnosing cattle diseases using a hybrid method combining Forward Chaining to determine disease types based on symptoms, and Certainty Factor to calculate diagnosis confidence levels. The system was built using JavaScript and MySQL. Results show the system successfully displays cattle disease diagnoses with confidence levels, and all functions performed well based on black box testing, making it useful as a web-based tool for initial cattle disease diagnosis.
