The Use of Board Game Media on Elementary School Students' Reading Comprehension Skills

Insufficient reading comprehension skills in elementary school children are a problem for learning the Indonesian language. This research explores the impact of a digital board game on fifth-grade students' reading comprehension skills at SDN Mergosari 2. A One Group Pretest–Posttest Design method was used, with data collected from students before and after playing the game. The Wilcoxon test analyzed data that did not have a normal distribution. Results showed an increase in average reading comprehension scores, from 63. 56 in the pretest to 81. 33 in the posttest. The Wilcoxon test indicated a significant effect of the digital board game, with a p-value less than 0. 05, confirming improvement in students' reading comprehension skills.. Consequently, digital board games can serve as a beneficial alternative educational tool to improve reading comprehension within elementary education settings.
