Abstract

The livestock sector plays a vital role in supporting economic growth and ensuring national food security. In the increasingly competitive egg-laying hen industry, businesses are required to maintain consistent product quality in accordance with established standards. UMKM Telor.ID, a layer chicken farm, experiences a reject rate exceeding its internal standard of 10%, indicating the need for effective quality control. This study aims to analyze and control production quality using Seven Tools and Statistical Process Control, identify the root causes of defects through Root Cause Analysis, and propose appropriate improvement strategies. The findings reveal that the most dominant defect is cracked or broken eggs, accounting for 50% or 3,521 eggs of total rejects. The main causes are related to operator fatigue and improper handling, brittle eggshells due to calcium deficiency, and inadequate equipment such as hard trays. Recommended improvements include operator training, routine maintenance, enhanced feed nutrition, and standardized equipment usage.
