This study aimed to examine the influence of locus of control and self-efficacy on academic burnout among students of SMA Negeri 1 Bangil. Academic burnout is characterized by emotional exhaustion, cynicism toward learning, and feelings of inadequacy in completing academic tasks. The research employed a quantitative correlational design with a population of 960 students and a sample of 278 students selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Locus of Control Scale, the Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Academic Burnout Scale. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to test the hypotheses. The results indicated that locus of control and self-efficacy simultaneously had a significant effect on academic burnout (F = 150.758; p < 0.05), contributing 52.3% of the variance. Partially, locus of control (t = −7.767; p < 0.05) and self-efficacy (t = −9.003; p < 0.05) showed significant negative effects. All research hypotheses were supported.
