Abstract

This study explores how school-based Guidance and Counseling staff intervene in cases of student bullying and the strategies they use to reduce such behavior. Despite preventive efforts, low-level and verbal aggression remain common in peer interactions, threatening students’ sense of safety and psychological well-being at school. This research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Two guidance and counseling teachers were selected through purposive sampling because they were directly involved in handling bullying cases. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that counselors address bullying by reinforcing positive behavior and reducing negative behavior through the removal of reinforcement. These strategies reflect the application of operant conditioning principles to shape more adaptive student behavior
