Hypothetical Learning Trajectory in the Material of Ordering Fractions

Ordering fractions is a challenging subject for elementary school students because most individuals do not yet understand the relationship between the numerator and denominator in fractions. The purpose of this study was to test and develop a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) for fourth-grade elementary school students so they can understand the order of fractions through a progressive task of fraction problems and real-world applications. This study used a qualitative design-based research approach. Data were collected through observations, worksheets, and recording the learning process. The results showed that HLT improved students' understanding, demonstrating the ability to identify equivalent fractions, equate denominators, and use least common ratios
