Gear Analysis Using SC 49 Cast Steel for Corn Seed Planting Tools

This study analyzes the use of cast steel SC 49 for gears in a corn seed planting tool. The research focuses on gear design, bending stress calculation, and performance evaluation. The designed spur gear has a module of 4 mm with 8 (pinion) and 48 (gear) teeth, achieving a 6:1 transmission ratio. Calculations show a bending stress of 9.88 kg/mm², below the allowable limit of 20 kg/mm² for SC 49 material. Results indicate that SC 49 cast steel gears provide sufficient strength, wear resistance, and durability for agricultural applications. The safety factor of 3.37 confirms the design's reliability for corn planting equipment.
