Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar (glucose) levels. Diabetes Mellitus is a significant risk factor for the incidence of TB because it affects the patient’s immune system. TB patients with DM are more susceptible to delayed sputum smear conversion and have a higher risk of relapse compared to TB patients without DM [13].
