Abstract

Plastic waste is one of the environmental problems that continues to increase due to its nature that is difficult to decompose naturally. Efforts to process plastic waste through shredding are one solution to increase economic value while reducing the impact of pollution. This study aims to test the performance of a plastic waste shredding machine powered by a 6.5 HP gasoline engine with 14 steel blades on four types of plastic, namely Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Polypropylene (PP), and Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE). The parameters tested include shredding rate, mass efficiency, fuel consumption, and fuel efficiency.
