Assessment of Road Surface Damage Based on the ASTM D6433 – 20 Road Construction Method and Pavement Condition Index (PCI): Case Study (Surabaya - Pasuruan Road, Pasuruan City)

Abstract

Road damage is defined as physical or functional degradation of the pavement surface that causes a decline in road service quality. One of the highways in Pasuruan Regency, specifically the Surabaya-Pasuruan section, has suffered severe damage. It has a total length of 500 m and a width of 6 m. It is important to investigate and evaluate the types and extent of damage to this section of road. The road segment that is the object of this study is Jl. Kota Surabaya-Pasuruan. The research methods used were the PCI method and the Bina Marga method. The dominant result of the study was minor damage. The PCI calculation results for ten road segments yielded values ranging average of 80.33. This category is classified as Good. The assessment using the Bina Marga method yielded IKJ values ranging average of 83.23. These results indicate that the road is generally in good condition.
