This study evaluates the implementation of the Area Traffic Control System (ATCS) at the Jl. Padjonga Dg Ngalle four-leg intersection, Makassar City, by comparing conditions before and after installation. The evaluation uses the 1997 Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI), focusing on degree of saturation (DS), delay, queue length, and Level of Service (LOS). Secondary data from relevant agencies include geometric conditions, traffic flow, and signal timing during morning, midday, and evening peak hours, on both weekdays and weekends. Analysis involves calculating intersection capacity, assessing the performance of each approach, and identifying LOS changes after ATCS application. Results show that ATCS improves signal control, reduces DS and average delay on several approaches, and enhances LOS during certain periods. However, some approaches show only minor changes, indicating the need for further timing adjustments. This research provides a reference for local governments in developing more effective and efficient urban traffic management strategies.
