Abstract

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a contagious disease and a global health concern due to its ability to cause liver inflammation and damage. Diagnosis is often difficult, as symptoms may resemble other viral infections. Liver function tests—Total Bilirubin, SGOT, and Gamma GT—are essential to evaluate excretory function, liver injury, and biliary disorders. Hospital findings show that delays in testing caused by late sample delivery, technical issues, or human error may affect result accuracy. This study analyzed differences in Total Bilirubin, SGOT, and Gamma GT results in suspected Hepatitis B patients, based on specimen type and testing delay. Conducted in June 2025 at Petrokimia Gresik Hospital Laboratory, the research used an experimental design with 15 serum and 15 EDTA plasma samples. Two-Way ANOVA showed no significant effect of specimen type (p>0.05). Delay time significantly influenced Total Bilirubin (p=0.013), but not SGOT (p=0.104) or Gamma GT (p=0.192).
