Alcohol is a psychoactive substance with addictive properties due to its selective function, especially on the brain, changing behavior, emotions, cognition, views, and consciousness. Addiction or dependence on alcohol is known as the addictive nature of alcohol. Serum GlutamicOxaloacetic Transaminase (SGOT) is an enzyme whose presence and levels in the blood are used as markers of liver dysfunction. Using an experimental laboratory research design with a cross-sectional approach, this study involved 30 adolescent respondents from the Balongbendo and Tulangan areas who were alcohol consumers. The results of data analysis using the Independent samples T-Test showed that there was no significant difference (p = 0.087) in SGOT levels, but there was a significant difference (p = 0.000) in SGPT levels in adolescents consuming alcohol for 1-3 years and >3-5 years. These findings indicate that alcohol consumption can affect liver function, especially in increasing SGPT levels.organs.
