Abstract

Dengue and typhoid are common infectious diseases in tropical regions like Indonesia. Dengue is caused by the dengue virus and transmitted through Aedes aegypti mosquito bites, with symptoms including high fever and muscle pain. Typhoid is caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria, spread through contaminated food or water. This study aimed to compare the number of leukocytes, lymphocytes, monocytes, and neutrophils in dengue and typhoid patients. A laboratory experimental method with a quantitative approach was used, involving 30 samples of patients aged 5–20 years for each group. Data analysis using the Independent T Test showed a significant difference in leukocyte count (p=0.145) and monocyte count (p=0.031), but not in lymphocytes (p=0.731) or neutrophils (p=0.987). In conclusion, only the monocyte count showed a significant difference between dengue and typhoid patients.
