Divorce not only breaks the marriage relationship but also leaves problems related to the division of property, especially joint property. In Indonesia, joint property includes assets acquired during marriage, while inherited property includes premarital assets, inheritance, or grants. One of the problems that often arises is the legal status of personal assets that are renovated during marriage, whether they are included in joint property.This study uses a normative juridical method with a statutory approach and case studies. Data was obtained from Law No. 1 of 1974, Compilation of Islamic Law, court decisions, and legal literature. The results of the study show that the renovation of personal assets can be considered as joint property if there is a significant contribution from the spouse, both financially and non-financially.
