Abstract

Generation Z, influenced by digitalization, uses social media to share personal information (self-disclosure) on Twitter. This study examines Generation Z's tweet uploads based on Derlega & Grezlak's self-disclosure theory, categorizing informants into Johari Window's four areas. Results show that informants' tweet uploads can be categorized into 5 self-disclosure functions, with expression being the most prominent. Of the seven informants, one is in the open area, five are in the hidden area, and one is in the blind area. The theory of uses and gratifications is closely related to how media can fulfill the needs of the audience; the intensity of the informant's tweet uploads per day is considered quite high, so this shows that X (Twitter) has succeeded in fulfilling the needs of its users as a medium that can be used for self-disclosure.
