Abstract

Bacterial infections caused by E.coli. Diarrhea is one of the diseases caused by E.coli infection, which is a significant cause of death, especially in children. Chinese dates (Z.jujuba) are known to have health benefits, one of which is as an antibacterial. The study was conducted in June-August 2024 at the Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. The research method is disc diffusion with concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The results showed that Chinese date extract had significant antibacterial activity against E.coli bacteria. The largest inhibition zone in E.coli was found at a concentration of 100% with an average of 21 mm. In conclusion, Chinese date extract has potential as a natural antibacterial agent, with effectiveness against E.coli. One Way Anova test shows a sig value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), much smaller than 0.05, which indicates a significant difference between the tested groups.
