Abstract

Cigarettes are tobacco-based products that can produce carbon monoxide smoke. The carbon monoxide that binds to hemoglobin is called COHb. The carbon monoxide that enters the body can affect COHb levels and hematocrit in the blood. . This study used a cross-sectional design with a combined purposive and random sampling technique. The total sample size used in this study was 40 samples, divided into two groups based on smoking duration: 1-5 years and 6-10 years (each group consisting of 20 samples). The results of the study, based on the Mann-Whitney test, showed a Sig. value of 0.450 for smoking duration and COHb levels in the blood and a Sig. value of 0.735 for smoking duration and hematocrit levels. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is no difference between COHb and hematocrit levels and the duration of active smoking among workshop workers
