Abstract

The research aims to analyze and reveal competitive advantages at private Islamic universities (PTKIS) in the Sidoarjo area. According to Karl Marx's theory, everything tends to be transformed into a commodity that can be sold. In the context of higher education, Marx's view can help us understand how universities and their advantages are turned into marketable items. Michael E. Porter states that strategic management is crucial for achieving competitive advantage, summarizing three strategies: cost leadership, differentiation, and focus. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with an inductive method to explore competitive advantages at PTKIS in a broader and deeper context across two leading campuses in Sidoarjo. Data collection techniques include observation and interviews. The findings reveal that each campus has unique competitive advantages. PTKIS A applies a differentiation strategy more, while campus B emphasizes a focus strategy.
