Abstract

Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic disease caused by infection with Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii). Therefore, the development of sensitive and specific diagnostic methods is very important in the treatment of this disease. in this case, the microscopic method using saturated NaCl flotation and the PCR method is the chosen method. This study aims to compare the detection of T. gondii using saturated NaCl flotation and PCR methods on the B1 gene marker found in cat feces. This study uses exploratory descriptive research. The samples used were 13 cat feces taken from the Larangan Market using an accidental sampling technique. The results of this study showed that the presence of T. gondii or 100% in cat feces was not obtained using the saturated NaCl flotation method. Meanwhile, using the PCR method with the marker Gen B1, out of 13 samples, 4 samples had a specific DNA band length of 193 bp.
